WEST Coast is not concerned about having just one opportunity to play on the MCG this season, even with a likely finals berth looming.
The Eagles' clash with Richmond on Friday night is the club's first match at the MCG since round 10 last season, with their three other Melbourne games at Etihad Stadium.
The 8-3 team has won two of its last four clashes at the home of football and assistant coach Don Pyke said the quirk of this year's fixture would not be a factor on Friday night.
"Forgetting September, this is just us and Richmond on Friday night at the 'G," Pyke said.
"Everyone loves playing on the 'G. I think if you asked our players they'd say they're excited about the opportunity to play on the 'G.
"It's a slightly different ground to Subiaco because it's slightly wider.
"But we've spoken about that during the week and we're pretty confident our guys will adapt to it."
Intrigue surrounds the Eagles' backline ahead of Friday night, with Jeremy McGovern still in doubt as he recovers from a corked calf.
The tall defender did very little at the Eagles' light training run at Junction Oval on Thursday, but Pyke was confident he would be fit to face the Tigers' three-pronged forward line.
"We expect Jeremy to come up … at this stage he's good to go," Pyke said.
"For him with a cork it's just his level of comfort; it's not one of those [injuries] where you've got to go through a long, arduous fitness test.
"We'll see how he goes today but we expect him to play."
Pyke said the Eagles' backline had become accustomed to facing taller forward lines since losing key defenders Eric Mackenzie and Mitch Brown to season-ending knee injuries.
He said opposition clubs had responded by trying to stretch the Eagles, but that could allow Adam Simpson's group to use their runners to advantage.
"That's an area with (Sharrod) Wellingham, (Brad) Sheppard and (Shannon) Hurn down there - they are good ball-users, good ball-winners and runners," he said.
"When the ball hits the ground we'll look to bring their advantage into the game.
"Our backs have been outstanding this year in terms of adapting and playing slightly out of their height and weight."
