- Magpies swingman Ben Reid in for first game of the year
- Eagles drop three for top-four clash against Hawks
- Adam Goodes replaces Lance Franklin for trip to Geelong

FORGOTTEN swingman Ben Reid will play his first game of the season, with Collingwood confirming his selection for Saturday's crunch game against Carlton at the MCG.

Sydney Swans spearhead Lance Franklin (back) is among the key outs for round 19, although Adam Goodes makes his return to face Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Saturday night.

The Eagles have also made three changes for their huge clash with Hawthorn, with key defender Jeremy McGovern to return from a hamstring injury.

Reid, who has been hampered by a series of soft tissue injuries for the past 18 months, is among four inclusions for the Magpies as they bid to break a six-game losing streak.

Saturday's game against the Blues will be Reid's 100th AFL game and his first since round 21, 2014.

Jarryd Blair, Ben Sinclair and debutant Jonathon Marsh have also been included at the expense of omitted trio Sam Dwyer, Jarrod Witts and Paul Seedsman, while youngster Jordan De Goey has been rested.

The Blues have made three changes with Chris Yarran, Troy Menzel and Jason Tutt all dropped from the side that lost to North Melbourne last week.

Andrew Walker, Mark Whiley and Nick Holman have been recalled by the Blues.

Former Adelaide captain Nathan Van Berlo has been recalled for the biggest game of his side's season against Richmond at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.

Van Berlo, who was dropped after the Crows' loss to West Coast in round 15, and Rory Atkins have been included in the side, with Richard Douglas (appendicitis) and Matthew Wright (omitted) going out.

The Tigers have made one change with Shaun Hampson, who has shaken off a knee injury, replacing Sam Lloyd, who was dropped.

But there are doubts surrounding ill star Brett Deledio, who missed training during the week and didn't fly out with his teammates on Thursday.

The Western Bulldogs' chances of sewing up a finals spot have taken a hit with skipper Robert Murphy ruled out for Saturday's game against Port Adelaide at Etihad Stadium.

Both Murphy and Josh Prudden will be sidelined due to soreness, with youngsters Sam Darley and Lin Jong given the opportunity to play.

Power defender Jarman Impey will replace Ollie Wines, who had season-ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday night, in the only change to the side that defeated St Kilda last week.

The Brisbane Lions have been decimated by injury with Matthew Leuenberger (leg) and Dayne Beams, who will have season-ending shoulder surgery on Monday, the key omissions for Saturday's clash with Gold Coast.

Nick Robertson has also been dropped, with former Tiger Luke McGuane, Zac O'Brien and rookie Billy Evans, who will make his debut, coming into the side.

The Suns have recalled Michael Rischitelli and Trent McKenzie, although key defender Rory Thompson (ankle) and Josh Glenn go out of the side.

As flagged during the week, Goodes, who was given personal leave because of the booing controversy, and missed the game against Adelaide last weekend, will make his return for the Swans

His return is offset by the loss of star forward Franklin, who is struggling with a back injury

Veteran Geelong midfielder Mathew Stokes has been brought out of the wilderness and will replace the suspended Steve Johnson for Saturday night's clash against the Swans.

Stokes, who was dropped ahead of the round 17 game against Greater Western Sydney, returns alongside young forward Cory Gregson. Utility Billie Smedts has been dropped.

McGovern is among three changes for the Eagles with Sam Butler and Patrick McGinnity also getting their opportunity against the Hawks.

Josh Hill, Mark Hutchings and Tom Barrass have all been dropped from the side that drew with Gold Coast last week.

Young Hawthorn ruckman Jonathon Ceglar will play his first game since round 14, brought back into the side for the ailing David Hale (general soreness) for the game in the west.

Melbourne has named Mark Jamar, Ben Newton and Matt Jones on an extended interchange bench for its battle with North Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday.

The Kangaroo have lost Michael Firrito (suspension) and dropped Ryan Bastinac, with Lachie Hansen, Robbie Nahas, Majak Daw, Aaron Mullett and Max Warren are all in the mix to play.

The Giants have named Rhys Palmer, Devon Smith, Tom Bugg, Jon Patton, Andrew Phillips, Nick Haynes and Cam McCarthy in their extended squad for Sunday's game against Essendon at Spotless Stadium.

Patton, who will return from a ruptured ACL, is a confirmed inclusion while Jed Lamb, Matt Buntine (concussion), James Stewart (omitted) and Tom Downie make way.

The Bombers lose Zach Merrett (foot) and Alex Browne (omitted), while they could regain Courtenay Dempsey, Heath Hocking, Ben Howlett, Michael Hurley and Shaun Edwards.

Fremantle star Nat Fyfe has been ruled out because of groin injury for Sunday's showdown with St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

However the Dockers will be forced into one change with Zac Dawson (suspension) to be replaced by Alex Silvagni, Clancee Pearce, Zac Clarke or Connor Blakely.

Saints skipper Nick Riewoldt is set to return from a calf complaint, while Sam Gilbert, Cameron Shenton, Seb Ross, Nathan Wright, Blake Acres and Jack Lonie may all play.

Jimmy Webster (groin), Billy Longer (soreness), Luke Dunstan (soreness) and Eli Templeton are confirmed outs.
