Looked as though he would play under duress after being corked in the leg early on but recovered to collect nine touches in the second quarter when the Hawks made their big move. Worked off half-back and did some nice work at half forward.
Luke Breust - 7
As usual, demonstrated clean and precise disposal to celebrate his second premiership with three goals. Started when he marked on the lead in the first quarter in front of Gary Rohan and booted the Hawks' second. Recovered from being kneed in the head by Dane Rampe and gave a solid contribution in the midfield.
Shaun Burgoyne - 8
Destroyed the Swans in the first quarter with 10 disposals off half-back. Was quieter in the second but was simply so damaging in the opening quarter that set the standard for the afternoon. Kicked two goals in the last quarter to cap things off.
Unsurprisingly, was jumping out of his skin to come on after starting in the green vest. Got his chance seven minutes into the last quarter and ensured he didn't waste a minute, racing to nine touches in less than a term, which was equal or more than what eight Swans managed. An impressive cameo.
Josh Gibson - 8
Was in the wars with an ankle injury in the second quarter that needed treatment in the rooms before sustaining a gash to the eyebrow that was patched up. Played on good mate Lance Franklin when he pushed away from goal and probably came off second best in one-on-ones, but provided rebound and collected a whopping 32 touches.
Jack Gunston - 6
Started on the wing before being picked up by Rampe in attack. Had the kicking wobbles with 1.3 in the first but was marking well in front of his opponent. Ended with two goals and could have had more; still, played a good role with two scoring involvements and a strong contested mark in the third quarter.
David Hale - 5
Didn't have a huge impact around the ground with just seven touches – just one in the first term - but did enough in the ruck against Mike Pyke and kicked a goal in the second quarter that pushed the margin to 28 points.
Bradley Hill - 8
A lively and exciting game that made life very tough for Rhyce Shaw. Was involved in the Hawks' first goal when he took on Lewis Jetta on the far wing and used a composed kick to hit a target. Had 23 touches and four inside 50s to go with his goal.

Brian Lake - 8
A second stellar Grand Final game from the former Bulldog. Played on Franklin close to goal but killed Kurt Tippett across most of the game. Highlights reel included a great tackle on Kieren Jack late in the second quarter and a soaring grab over Tippett. The sore knee he was treated for in the second won't hurt much during celebrations.
Will Langford - 8
A super-impressive game from the 22-year-old. Helped set the first quarter standard with four tackles but it was his career-high haul of three goals – from 21 touches – that stood out. Nailed his first with 38 seconds to go in the first quarter and booted one on the run in the second but his incredible third-term effort from the boundary will certainly be replayed over and over.
Jordan Lewis - 9
The owner of the most talked-about thigh in Australia this week had a huge third quarter on his way to 37 disposals and seven clearances that saw him miss the Norm Smith by just one vote. Put his corked leg – and a first-quarter cut face – behind him to finish as one of his team's best after a stellar season.
Ben McEvoy - 6
One of two selection gambles that paid off. Played deep forward and kept Heath Grundy busy after being called up for Jon Ceglar. Did his bit in the ruck and contributed to a handful of scoring involvements.
Sam Mitchell - 9
Almost could have written a Norm Smith acceptance speech at half-time after 19 touches and five clearances. Got more attention after the break but was still significant for 33 disposals. Caught the eye late when he was still manically tackling and diving after the ball with the game won. Topped the tackles with a game-high nine.
Paul Puopolo - 5
Worked hard and kicked the Hawks' first goal in the opening term. Tackled well with four and pushed the ball inside 50. Played his role.
Cyril Rioli - 5
The gamble everyone was talking about in the lead-up paid off. In his first game since round 15, Rioli started on the ground and twice made Tippett look silly – the first when he intercepted his handpass and gave it to Roughead for a goal, and the second when he bravely threw himself on the Swan's boot and again set up his forward line teammate for another. Subbed off in the fourth after a solid contribution and gleefully shed the red vest on the final siren.
Jarryd Roughead - 9
Would have a sore head after Ted Richards took a big mark over him early but responded by flattening Dan Hannebery in a significant play that showed the Hawks weren't going to be pushed around. Kicked 5.1 and took five marks as the dominant target.

Liam Shiels - 7
A really solid game. Found Gunston in the first quarter with a beautiful kick inside 50 and was one of the chief instigators in setting up the early tackling discrepancy between the teams. Did some nice work in the midfield and was one of the most prolific Hawks in setting up forward forays.
Isaac Smith - 5
Didn't dominate after attracting Harry Cunningham in the first half, which restricted him to six touches, but chipped in with three scoring assists. Had two selfless plays in the final term when he set up Breust and later Burgoyne for celebratory goals.
Matt Spangher - 6
One of the biggest cheers was reserved for this man when he received his first premiership medallion. Looked like he'd struggle early when he was out-worked by Buddy in the first in a marking contest but was solid in the end for 15 touches.
Ben Stratton - 6
Fought out the game to the end for 22 touches after nine in the first half. Played loose at times after the main break and did some nice things at either end.
Matt Suckling - 6
Was the beneficiary of the Hawks' relentless forward pressure in the third term when he snapped a goal he'll always remember. Played a hugely uncontested game and gave the forward good supply.
