- 2015's free agency list as it stands

- How the northern football academies work
THE WINDS of change are sweeping through the AFL as a new era of player movement takes shape.
With the League about to enter a fourth season since the introduction of free agency, after one of the most turbulent trade periods in history and with a proposed draft and bidding system provoking fierce debate, talent acquisition has become a battleground.
Clubs are fighting back, adjusting their strategies and public positions to suit the new environment after struggling with the perfect storm of competition expansion, free agency and players nominating destinations and requesting to leave before their contracts have finished.
Players are pushing forward, asserting their rights to maximise their opportunities and income in a game where the average career lasts six years.
It is in this atmosphere that AFL.com.au has spoken to a range of industry players to examine questions on trade, free agency, northern state academies and the father-son rule.
As a result of our investigations, we have created a five-day management special investigation series we've called 'On the move'.
The headline acts for 2015 have started to emerge:
- The future homes of Adelaide's Patrick Dangerfield and Richmond's Alex Rance.
- Players are putting off contract talks as clubs seek to secure them before the season starts.
- How many out of contract players can Greater Western Sydney retain?
- Revamping the draft system: the AFL's proposed academy and father-son bidding system.
- What will this year's review of free agency look like?
Come back to AFL.com.au over the next five days as we attempt to provide the answers:
