NORTH Melbourne coach Brad Scott is staying tight-lipped about his alleged clash with a security guard at Hobart's Blundstone Arena last Saturday, but says he welcomes the investigation and the chance to put "the facts in the story".

Scott told reporters on Wednesday that he "would love to" give his version of the incident but could not while the police investigation remained on-going.

"You're all aware that there have some allegations made, unfortunately there will be a police investigation now, so while I'd love to answer all your questions and give you a full version of events and actually tell you what happened, I can't," Scott said.

"Things will come out in the wash up.

"All I can say is, I absolutely welcome an investigation and look forward to putting the facts in the story."

Asked whether he regretted anything that happened last Saturday, Scott reiterated that he could not comment.

The Roos coach also said he was unable to confirm whether he had spoken to police about the incident.

It is understood the incident occurred minutes before half-time in North's win over Richmond as Scott was walking from the coach's box to talk to forward Lindsay Thomas on the interchange bench.

The security guard is believed to have alleged he was kicked and abused by Scott as the Roos coach tried to get past him to make his way on to the ground.

The security guard lodged a complaint with Blundstone Arena management on Monday and Tasmanian police confirmed on Tuesday that they were investigating his allegations.

"The incident occurred around 2.35pm (last Saturday) and involved a man who was working as a security guard and a person believed to be a North Melbourne official," the police said in a statement.

Scott said he did not expect the investigation would be a distraction for him or his players in the lead-up to Friday night's clash against Essendon at Etihad Stadium.

"I'm a footy coach and we move on really quickly in this industry to the next game," he said. 

"We had a really good review of the Richmond game and we're straight into our preparation for this week so our players are absolutely focused on the task at hand.”
