ST KILDA'S Jack Billings is expected to miss at least another month with a "stress response" in his shin.
The 19-year-old last played in round 10 against Hawthorn and has since been a week-to-week proposition after complaining of shin soreness.
But further scans on the leg last week showed a stress response, with the Saints deciding on a conservative approach with Billings' return to the field.
"We're just going to take our time with him," head physio Andrew Wallis told the club's website.
"He had further scans last week which show a stress response, not a stress fracture in his leg.
"We'll list him as 4-6 weeks but we'll see how he progresses through."
Billings was in good form before the injury and was the catalyst of the Saints' remarkable comeback against the Western Bulldogs in round six, when he booted four second-half goals.
Meanwhile, the Saints expect to have Sam Fisher available for Sunday's clash with Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium.
The veteran defender was subbed out of the Saints' 110-point thumping of Essendon on Sunday at three-quarter time in what was his first game since round eight.
The decision to rest Fisher from the last quarter was related to his management after a long absence.
There's hope second-year player Blake Acres will miss just one more game after surgery last week to repair an injury to a metacarpal bone in his hand.
Acres has already shed his cast but will need to prove his skills are intact before being considered for selection.
Tom Curren will miss an estimated 10-12 weeks with the broken fibula he had operated on last week but the Saints are hopeful his recovery will be swift enough to get him back on the field before the season's end.
