GOLD Coast coach Rodney Eade says the Suns want to retain out of contract key forward Charlie Dixon and talented midfielder Harley Bennell.
Dixon has attracted interest from several clubs but Eade said the club wants the 24-year-old to stay.
"We're certainly keen to keep Charlie, there's no doubt about that. We want him to stay," Eade said on SEN.
"He is a key plank of us going forward."
Bennell missed last week's game against North Melbourne after a photo appeared on the front page of News Corporation newspapers that showed him in a hotel in Launceston in 2013 allegedly with illicit substances.
Discussions have been continuing this week on whether he will return against the Western Bulldogs with an announcement expected on Thursday.
"From my point of view, I want Harley to stay," Eade said.
"He's obviously a talented player, but talent is only half the equation."
Bennell is contracted until the end of 2017, but he would be in demand from opposition clubs if he wanted to start afresh at another club.
Eade said he had a good relationship with Bennell and he would work with the 22-year-old to assist him through this period.
"He needs to be able to commit to the group and what we stand for, and I am fairly confident he will," Eade said.
Eade reassured supporters that he was committed to addressing the Suns' issues and said he was "in for the haul to make this club successful".
The 57-year-old was lured back into coaching by the Suns at the end of last season but the expansion club has won just two games, having been hit by injuries and off-field controversy all season.
He said he knew when he took the job there was some work ahead but conceded he did not know the depth of issues at the club.
Eade is contracted until the end of 2017 and said he hoped he would be in the job even longer, expressing the view that the club would "head towards blue skies fairly quickly" once a suitable foundation was in place.
