The marquee match-up was staged in front of a healthy crowd containing several AFL recruiters at a damp and bitterly cold Shepley Oval in Dandenong.
Weitering, the key defender likened to Geelong's Harry Taylor, gave away 4cm and 6kg to Schache but still beat him in every contest.
The by-play between the pair off the ball would have been worth the admission price alone if the game hadn't been free to attend.
FEATURE: Is Jacob Weitering this year's No.1 pick?
In a best-on-ground performance, Weitering took several trademark intercept marks, gathered plenty of the ball and calmly marshaled a Dandenong Stingray's defence.
He also grabbed mark of the day after gracefully gliding across a pack to take a spectacular one-handed mark deep in defence.
Weitering also pushed forward to demonstrate his eye-catching versatility.
To be fair to Schache it wasn't a day for key forwards, and he was hindered by poor delivery from his Murray Bushranger teammates.
His only goal came early in the third quarter, when he kicked the Bushrangers' first goal of the game from a set shot 45m out.
That small victory came against another highly-rated key defender in Kieran Collins.
Recruiting heavyweights Derek Hine (Collingwood) and Merv Keane (Essendon) would have been impressed by the 196cm Seymour product's work in the ruck and willingness to win the ball at ground level in his side's 21-point loss.
Another interested onlooker was Brisbane Lions recruiting boss Peter Schwab.
If the Lions are still bottom of the ladder at the end of the season, Schwab could be the one making the decision whether Weitering or Schache is 2015's No.1 pick.
