WEST Coast defender Sharrod Wellingham says the team will try to keep things as normal as possible as they gear up for Saturday's grand final against Hawthorn.
The Eagles booked their spot in the premiership decider with a 25-point win over North Melbourne in Saturday night's preliminary final.
West Coast hasn't played in a grand final since 2006 and only three players in its squad have tasted premiership success - Wellingham, Xavier Ellis and Sam Butler.
Wellingham, who won a flag with Collingwood in 2010, said sticking with a tried and tested routine would be critical in the lead-up to Saturday's game at the MCG.
But with a grand final parade scheduled for Friday plus increased hype surrounding the club, that will be easier said than done.
"Something pretty important is that they don't try and do anything too out of the ordinary, and they just stick to what they usually do," Wellingham said after the club's low-key recovery session on Sunday.
"I just always tried to enjoy the week and just make the most of the situation we're in.
"It's not every year you get yourself into a Grand Final, so it's always good to just soak up the week and then get your mind right come game day."
West Coast beat Hawthorn by 32 points in a qualifying final two weeks ago.
Wellingham said that win had given the team massive confidence.
"It will be a big factor in the boys' minds knowing we can take it up to them," Wellingham said.
"But they are the benchmark. They've been in every grand final since 2012, so we're definitely going to be taking it up against the best.
"We know there's a big challenge ahead of us, but we've got enormous confidence in ourselves."
