GOLD Coast star young defender Kade Kolodjashnij has taken out the club's opening 2km time trial at Metricon Stadium on Monday.
The Suns' first- to fourth-year players returned to training, with fewer than 15 taking part – reflecting the club's increasingly matured age profile.
Fresh from a stellar 2014 season in which he averaged 22 possessions a game and finished runner-up in Gold Coast's best and fairest, Kolodjashnij crossed line first ahead of Alex Sexton and Touk Miller.
After the time trial the players blew out any cobwebs with some ball work before being sent to the gym for the first of countless summer weights sessions.
