MARC Murphy wants to remain Carlton captain.
New coach Brendan Bolton has the club in 'reset' mode, saying he's open-minded on future of the team's leadership structure.
Murphy, 28, has been Blues captain since 2013, when he replaced Chris Judd.
He said he understood the reasons behind the review, saying it was "fair enough," but sidestepped the issue when asked if he'd feel hurt to lose the job.
"We'll address that, if that happens, down the track," Murphy said on Tuesday.
"I think anyone coming into a business or organisation or a footy side - you're not going to keep things exactly the way that they were.
"He (Bolton) is going to come in with a new approach."
Carlton will travel to the Gold Coast next week, where the players will be tasked with setting standards and cultural values for the coming season.
Murphy left little doubt he wants to retain the position of captain.
"If the boys want me to, and the coaching staff do, I'd love to lead this footy club.
"It's a terrific honour to be the captain of the Carlton Football Club, we've been through some tough times and hopefully we can start turning that around."
