FOUR big-name Fremantle players will line-up in the WAFL this weekend to prove their readiness before facing Port Adelaide in round one.
The AFL has granted eight clubs permission to field players in state league matches for a final pre-season hit-out prior to the season kicking-off on April 2.
Each player has either had a reduced or interrupted preparation during the NAB Challenge.
Star Dockers midfielder Michael Barlow, Paul Duffield, Garrick Ibbotson and Danyle Pearce are among 10 Freo players set to line up for WAFL affiliate Peel Thunder on Saturday.
Barlow (ankle) and Duffield (shoulder) have not played since they were injured in their first NAB Challenge clash against Melbourne on March 5.
Collingwood's VFL team was permitted to field nine AFL-listed players against Richmond on Thursday evening - including ruckman Jarrod Witts, draftees Darcy Moore and Jordan De Goey, Paul Seedsman and Patrick Karnezis.
Melbourne's No. 3 NAB AFL Draft pick Angus Brayshaw will line-up for Casey against Williamstown, alongside the likes of Jeremy Howe and Bernie Vince as he races to be fit to face Gold Coast at the MCG.
Sydney Swans big man Sam Reid, Western Bulldogs Nathan Hrovat and Lachie Hunter – who is serving a club suspension and is unavailable for round one – and Richmond's first draft pick Corey Ellis will also take the field.
