PADDY McCartin could return in two weeks for the clash against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium, says St Kilda coach Alan Richardson.
McCartin suffered his third concussion of the season against Gold Coast in round 15 and there is doubt about when he will make his eventual return.
The coach was adamant the No.1 NAB AFL Draft pick in 2014 would play before season's end.
"If it hadn't been that he'd had three knocks, he'd probably be pretty close to playing this week. They haven't been big knocks," Richardson said after the game against Essendon on Sunday.
"Just because he's had a few knocks, we'll be pretty conservative.
"He'll play footy again this year, there's no doubt about that.
"We're really pleased with the way he's going. I'd hope he would only miss another one, another two max. Once again, that will be up to the medical staff."

Rebounding defender Shane Savage left the ground early in the final term and didn't return to the contest after he copped a heavy knock from Bombers big man Joe Daniher.
"He's fine. The docs just wanted to keep him out of the game. He was a bit dazed after that knock but my understanding is they would expect him to play next week," Richardson said.
