GEELONG has extended coach Chris Scott's contract until the end of 2019.
Geelong president Colin Carter announced at the pre-game president's lunch on Sunday that the deal had been officially locked away.
Carter praised Scott for his work in managing the transition between 2010-2017.
Cats CEO Brian Cook said Scott's contract extension had always been a priority for the club's board.
Cook said Scott, who took the Cats to a premiership in his first season as coach in 2011, had handled a difficult transition period in the club's history with class and foresight.
"Extending Chris' contract has been on our agenda since last year, and we are pleased that we have been able to come to this agreement," Cook said.
"We want Chris to be our coach and he wants to continue with the club.
"Chris has overseen the team through a period of significant regeneration, and we set him a difficult task from the very beginning.
"We asked that he embrace the challenges that a list overhaul would bring while at the same time continuing to challenge for success at or near the top of the ladder. That Chris and the football department have been able to achieve both goals is a credit to everyone involved."
Scott, who has coached the third-most games in club history, is on track to set a new record for a coach's first 150 games with a winning percentage of 75 per cent.
"The club and I are committed to each other," Scott said.
"The contract formalises it, but in a practical sense we have always been on the same page in terms of what we are trying to achieve.
"I have been very lucky to be at Geelong, and continue to enjoy working with our players, coaches and staff. There are always challenges in football, and we will keep working together to meet these as we strive for success."
Geelong has reached the finals five times in Scott's tenure and the club is one of three unbeaten teams to start 2017 with a 5-0 winning record.
The Cats face Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday afternoon.
