RICHMOND premiership star Jack Riewoldt was astonished when he found out he had become the first person to be allowed to sing on stage with international rockstars The Killers.
Riewoldt's rendition of the hit song Mr Brightside was one of the highlights of the Tigers' joyous flag celebrations, with the spearhead joining the band and lead singer Brandon Flowers on stage for the Virgin Australia premiership party.
Reflecting on one of the greatest moments of his life, Riewoldt was in fine form.
"I'm extremely grateful for that (opportunity). Being a rock star's pretty cool," Riewoldt said on Sunday.
"I'm a massive Killers fan and I might have flagged it with the (Richmond) media department that I wouldn't mind doing it.
"The AFL and The Killers kindly obliged. You don't get those opportunities much in life, so why not take it?"
When he was presented to the tens of thousands of Richmond fans who turned up for the club's family day on Sunday, Riewoldt jokingly said he was prepared to quit football to join The Killers on tour.
"They're obviously an awesome act and I was just pumped that it could happen," het said.
"I remember trying to hold the microphone away from my mouth so you couldn't hear my singing. My voice was ruined enough by then."
Riewoldt said he was sure the celebrations on Swan St would continue into Sunday night.
"I saw a bit of vision from Swan St last night and there was a bit of a 'rave cave' going on under the (Swan St) bridge," Riewoldt said.
"I might have to rock back up there tonight."
