OPERATION 'Revive Carlton' ironically continues to take casualties.
The Stephen Silvagni-Brendon Bolton combination is two years in, although the former – a club legend who played 312 matches between 1985 and 2001 – was on deck for the entire 2015 season before the ex-Hawks assistant came on board.
They have ruthlessly overseen 42 outgoing list changes: 15 in 2015, 14 last year and 13 in 2017.
The Blues 'won' the wooden spoon in 2015, but under Bolton improved to 14th in 2016 before sliding back down to 16th this year.
Carlton's passion for recruiting Greater Western Sydney footballers has been hit and miss, with Mark Whiley, Kristian Jaksch, Rhys Palmer and Liam Sumner all gone. Sumner could yet be re-drafted.
The jury is still out on Jed Lamb, Jarrod Pickett and Andrew Phillips, but Caleb Marchbank and Lachie Plowman are valuable contributors down back.
Lamb, Pickett and Phillips will all get another shot in 2018, but where have the departed 42 drifted to since leaving their Ikon Park locker behind?
AFL.com.au has tracked down each player, while rating the most recently delisted Blues' hopes of being in the AFL next year.
2015
Tom Bell (traded) – The strong-bodied Queenslander has played 20 games in two seasons – but only six this year due to a broken ankle – since crossing to the Brisbane Lions and will be playing for his career in 2018.
Andrew Carrazzo (retired) – Turned his hand to umpiring after playing 194 games for the Blues, but abandoned those plans after four calf injuries in 2016 while climbing the VAFA ranks.
David Ellard (retired) – Quit at age 26, after an injury riddled 63-game career, to work as a builder and play for Greensborough in Melbourne. Returned to WAFL club Swan Districts as co-captain this year.
Tom Fields (delisted) – The son of former Essendon and Swans champion Neville Fields has played the last two seasons for South Adelaide in the SANFL.
Cameron Giles (delisted) – Endured a horror injury run at Carlton, but is back playing at his old SANFL side Woodville-West Torrens, although all 11 of his games this year were in the reserves.
Lachie Henderson (traded) – Has become a major part of Geelong's defence the last two seasons since ending his 102-match career for the Blues, after also playing 15 times for the Lions.
Nick Holman (delisted) – Won the second-most disposals in the SANFL this year and finished seventh in the Magarey Medal playing for Central District. May be destined to be a star state-league performer, but will hold out hopes of an AFL lifeline.
Blaine Johnson (delisted) – Returned to South Fremantle on leaving the Blues and was particularly good this season, booting 59 goals (second in the WAFL) in 23 games to reignite AFL interest in him.
Chris Judd (retired) – Is on Carlton's board these days, as well as writing columns for Fairfax and being part of Triple M's commentary team.
Troy Menzel (traded) – 2012's No.11 pick played only four games (all this year) for new side Adelaide and was delisted at season's end, likely bringing an end to his 44-match career.
Fraser Russell (delisted) – Struggled with injury while playing three development league matches for the Northern Blues in 2016, before joining Buninyong in the Central Highlands league this year.
Brad Walsh (delisted) – Has bounced between WAFL club Peel Thunder's senior and reserves sides in the past two seasons.
Robbie Warnock (delisted) – Has spent a lot of time in the United States since his 88-game AFL career ended, including an incident in April this year where he was detained then sent back to Australia to prove he wasn't living in the US.
Matthew Watson (delisted) – Another who went west to play in the WAFL, serving East Fremantle as a ruck-forward the past two seasons and being especially prominent in 2017. Has informed the club he is returning to Melbourne.
Chris Yarran (traded) – Never played a match for Richmond and quit the game in November last year, before months later detailing in an extraordinary video how a drug addiction ruined his life and AFL career.

2016
Matthew Dick (delisted) – Spent four seasons on an AFL list at Sydney then Carlton, but turned his back on VFL offers to play for his junior club Macedon this year and study exercise science at university.
Andrejs Everitt (retired) – Played 52 of his 131 games for Carlton, after stints at the Western Bulldogs and Sydney, and spent his first season out of AFL ranks as playing co-coach of his junior club Somerville.
Jayden Foster (delisted) – The key forward's father, Peter, played for Footscray and Fitzroy and his post-Carlton career was spent with the Bulldogs' VFL team, but he played only five matches this year.
Andrew Gallucci (delisted) – The Blues cut him from their rookie list at the end of the 2016 season before re-drafting him in the rookie draft. He kicked 21 goals in 18 VFL games in 2017, but Carlton announced in late August it was delisting him again.
Billy Gowers (delisted) – Played as a forward for the Bulldogs' VFL side this year and kicked 20 goals in 19 matches, after spending most of his time down back in two seasons on the Blues' list.
Michael Jamison (retired) – The former 150-game Blues defender featured on the AFL's Match Review Panel this year. Ballarat Football League club East Point announced in late June it had recruited Jamison, but he didn't play a game.
Ciaran Sheehan (delisted) – The 2010 All-Ireland champion struggled with an array of injuries in his AFL career at Carlton, but was re-rookied last year after being delisted. Added only two games in 2017 to the four he played in 2014 and was delisted again.
Clem Smith (delisted) – Signed with his old WAFL club Perth through 2018, but backtracked on the deal to reportedly play amateur football instead.
Zach Tuohy (traded) – Enjoyed his most outstanding season at AFL level, averaging a career-high 24.6 disposals in 25 games for Geelong this year and was one of the Cats' best in the finals.
Jason Tutt (delisted) – Pulled on the boots for VAFA club De La Salle in 2017, as well as taking on a development coaching role with the school's TAC Cup footballers, after considering playing for Canberra in the NEAFL.
Dillon Viojo-Rainbow (delisted) – Won a VFL premiership in September with Gary Ayres-coached Port Melbourne, amassing 19 disposals in the Grand Final to cap a strong individual campaign.
Andrew Walker (retired) – Played 15 matches for Northern Football League outfit West Preston-Lakeside this year, but has since accepted a playing-coach role with his hometown Echuca for 2018.
Mark Whiley (delisted) – Dominated all season playing for Yarrawonga in the Ovens and Murray league, even representing the competition in its interleague victory over arch-rival Goulburn Valley.
Cameron Wood (retired) – The ex-Carlton, Brisbane and Collingwood ruckman plied his trade for Avondale Heights this year and is studying to be a teacher. But his post-AFL career highlight was a three-way share in $38,000 for his appearance on game show The Chase Australia.

2017
Dennis Armfield (retired) – The much-loved speedster called time on his 145-game career this year and will play and be an assistant coach for Avondale Heights next year, alongside fellow ex-Blue Cameron Wood.
Blaine Boekhorst (delisted) – Had his best two AFL games in rounds 22 and 23 for Carlton, but the No.19 selection in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft was cut from the list. Retains hope of playing in the AFL in 2018.
Dylan Buckley (delisted) – Managed just one game this past season and the son of triple premiership star Jim parted ways with the Blues. Boasts genuine pace, so isn't without a chance of remaining at AFL level next year, but it seems unlikely.
Andrew Gallucci (delisted) – The Blues cut him from their rookie list at the end of the 2016 season before re-drafting him in the rookie draft. He kicked 21 goals in 18 VFL games in 2017, but Carlton announced in late August it was delisting him again.
Bryce Gibbs (traded) – Like Gary Ablett, Gibbs' second attempt at going home was successful. Will perform a key role for Adelaide in 2018, and goes from a rebuilding team to one gunning for the premiership.
Daniel Gorringe (retired) – Stepped away from AFL football after a string of injuries restricted him to only 26 matches for Gold Coast and Carlton, and has signed to play for Eastern Football League side Balwyn next season.
Kristian Jaksch (delisted) – The Blues rated Jaksch so highly they gave up pick seven in a multi-player deal where they also scored selection 19, but the former Giant swingman was unable to live up to his promise. Unlikely to find a third AFL home.
Matthew Korcheck (retired) – American Korcheck made some strides with his football this year, playing 14 games and kicking five goals for the Northern Blues in the VFL. But he retired at season's end and is returning to the United States.
Rhys Palmer (delisted) – The 2008 NAB AFL Rising Star winner departs the AFL after playing 123 matches for Fremantle, Greater Western Sydney and Carlton. Only one of those came this year and the Blues announced Palmer's body was no longer able to "cope with the rigours of AFL".
Ciaran Sheehan (delisted) – The 2010 All-Ireland champion struggled with an array of injuries in his AFL career at Carlton, but was re-rookied last year after being delisted. Added only two games in 2017 to the four he played in 2014 and was delisted again.
Billie Smedts (delisted) – Was among the Blues' latest delistings this week, potentially ending a once promising career that began at Geelong. Injuries cruelled his time in the AFL, and he played only 47 matches, including nine for Carlton in 2017.
Liam Sumner (delisted) – Invited to continue training with the Blues and remains a chance of being re-drafted, most likely as a rookie. The top-10 pick from 2011 scattered 32 games across five seasons with GWS and Carlton, but struggled to win enough of the ball.
Simon White (delisted) – Was a dependable servant in 87 games for the Blues down back or in defensive roles in the midfield. Might find it tough to land another AFL gig at 29 years of age.
