GREATER Western Sydney is in the frame to play in China as Port Adelaide's opposition next year.
Gold Coast has made the trip to Shanghai for the past two years, but the Suns could be replaced by the AFL's other expansion club, as Giants football manager Wayne Campbell confirmed to Melbourne radio station SEN on Tuesday.
Campbell cited concerns over travel, but pointed out if the money was there, the move had to be contemplated.
"It (facing Port in China next year) has been floated. It's come across before," Campbell said.
"There's some broad considerations to that. We certainly want to win the hearts and minds of the people of western Sydney for a start, and in Canberra, and we've still got a hell of a lot of work to do there.
"We have eight games at Spotless (Stadium) and three games in Canberra. We do have a spare game at Spotless that could be taken somewhere else.
"We have the heaviest travel schedule in the AFL. We travel 13 times, so it would just come down to economics and could we make enough money to justify it?
"Certainly at this stage, our focus is on western Sydney and Canberra, for sure."
