PRODUCING "a ruthless contest" and getting his hands dirty will get Port Adelaide forward Jack Watts back in the Power's best 22.
Recruited from Melbourne at the end of last season, Watts is likely to spend another week in the SANFL rather than earn a reprieve for Saturday's encounter with Carlton at the MCG.
The Power – who have won five of their past six games to sit fifth on the ladder – don't have any reason to make unforced changes after last Friday night's gritty 10-point victory against the Demons at Adelaide Oval.
Watts was dropped after the Power's round 12 win against Richmond, and played strongly in his first appearance in the SANFL before the club's state-league side had the bye last weekend.
"It will only be a matter of time and he'll be back in before you know it," Power senior assistant coach Matthew Nicks told reporters on Monday.
"We really do want him in our AFL side, but we want him to be confident and playing good footy as well.
"What he did at SANFL level was he gave us a ruthless contest.
"There was more of a focal point in that game, that might be something we look at as a coaching group, how can we get him in those positions.
"He went hard at the footy, enjoyed the contest, got his hands dirty and that's exactly what we're asking of him."
The Power traded pick 31 at last year's NAB AFL Draft to the Demons in exchange for Watts.
Exciting youngster Todd Marshall has played well in place of the 2008 No.1 draft pick.
"We'll look at selection, but coming off a solid win and Jack coming off a bye, we'd like to see him perform again at SANFL level," Nicks said.
"We'll definitely have his name up there for (AFL) selection this week and if we decide we go that way, it's because we feel it makes our side better."
Experienced defender Matthew Broadbent is an outside chance to play in the SANFL this weekend in what would be his first game back from a long-term ankle injury.
"He's still got a fair bit to go through, a couple of sessions, but by no means will they (the high-performance staff) rush that back," Nicks said.
"He's only had a couple of (training) sessions, so you'd think after having an extended time out of the game, he's going to be at least another week or so."
