ST KILDA coach Alan Richardson has confirmed the club is interested in star Sydney midfielder Dan Hannebery, "if he's available."
There were reports earlier this week St Kilda had offered the 27-year-old a five-year deal to return to his hometown in a trade.
Hannebery is currently contracted until the end of 2021.

"What I can say is, we're looking to bring in elite talent, whether that's through the trade period or through the national draft," Richardson said.
"We'll look everywhere. We'll look at players of various ages, various positions that we think complement the work we've already done and so Dan fits into that category. If it is that he's available, then absolutely, we'd be interested."
Asked if St Kilda will be heavily involved in free agency this year, Richardson replied in the affirmative.
"That's our want. Free agency, trade and then we go on the draft depending on what's happened. We want to be aggressive."
Hannebery has played just 11 games this year, averaging 18 disposals, well down on 2016's average of 30.8. He has battled soft-tissue injuries, including several calf strains, one of which hampered his pre-season.
Meanwhile, Richardson revealed draftee Hunter Clark will not play against Essendon on Friday night due to illness, while Ben Paton will make his debut.
