FREMANTLE director and former Dockers captain Peter Bell is poised to accept the club's vacant head of football position ahead of next season.
Bell, currently employed by ABC and Channel Seven as a broadcaster, is understood to have been selected to replace outgoing football boss Chris Bond.
With Bond set to depart and list chief Brad Lloyd departing for Carlton last month, Bell had become more hands on with the club under chief executive Steve Rosich in recent times.

The four-person sub-committee to appoint Bell included Rosich, president Dale Alcock, director Peter Mann and Dockers head of human resources Nicole Horrocks.
Speaking at the Brownlow Medal on Monday night, Rosich confirmed an announcement was imminent.
"We’re working through it, we’re getting pretty close with the head of football role," Rosich told 6PR.
"We’re calling it general manager of football, hopefully in the next 24-72 hours we can dot the i's and cross the t's on that and then the plan is to move swiftly into the list manager role who will report to that person (Bell)."

It is understood the Dockers' preference is for the list manager to be based in Perth, with Lloyd's previous tenure coming from the club’s Melbourne office.
Bell could join the Dockers as soon as this year’s NAB AFL Trade Period, with Rosich currently overseeing the club’s list management direction.
The ABC confirmed to AFL.com.au Bell has resigned from his position as breakfast host on ABC Radio Perth effective immediately. He was not heard on air Tuesday morning.
Before moving to the premier timeslot on the city’s main ABC talk station Bell was the afternoon announcer on commercial station 6PR.
He will relinquish his role as club director, having been appointed in 2015.
The former AFLPA president (2002-2005) also co-owns a Perth bar with former teammate Byron Schammer.

"I'm excited by the opportunity to support Ross Lyon, (AFLW coach) Trent Cooper and the players and staff of the Fremantle men's and women's programs," Bell said.
"I very much look forward to working diligently with our football department and the club more broadly as the general manager of football.
"The Fremantle Football Club means a lot to my family and I am thrilled to be back here in a fulltime capacity being able to contribute to the club itself and to all of our members, partners and stakeholders."
Bell, who played 286 games at the Dockers and North Melbourne, won two flags with the Roos and is a member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
An inaugural player at the Dockers in 1995, Bell was delisted ahead of 1996 before moving to Arden Street from 1996-2000 and tasting success in his first season.
Returning to the Dockers in 2001, Bell took on the captaincy the following season before handing the reins to Matthew Pavlich in 2007
Bell won four best and fairest awards (three at the Dockers) during his career and was a dual All Australian in 1999 and 2003.
