NORTH Melbourne missed out on star Eagle Andrew Gaff, but has won the battle for draft prospect Bailey Scott's services.
Scott, son of Kangaroos premiership player Robert, could also have joined Geelong as a father-son pick, while he had the option of going to Gold Coast as an academy selection.
"I understand it's a draft and I have not been guaranteed by North Melbourne that I will be selected by them, although if things go to plan as they perceive the draft will unfold, then North Melbourne will select me," he said.
"I was asked to make a decision sooner due to the Trade Period starting, so over the weekend I went through the process."
The 18-year-old midfielder, who boasts neat skills and placed in the top five of the standing vertical jump at last week's NAB AFL Draft Combine, met all three clubs in the past fortnight.
Queensland-based Scott is likely to attract a draft bid outside the top 30.
He captained the Allies and was an All Australian at this year's NAB AFL Under-18 Championships after averaging 24 disposals.
Robert Scott played 113 matches for North, including the 1996 Grand Final triumph, and 132 at the Cats.
"If things work out and I end up at North Melbourne, it would be exciting to have the opportunity to play where my father played in a premiership," the teenager said.
"My education is important to me and the potential opportunities to study in my selected field in Melbourne were attractive.
"All three clubs were terrific to me throughout this period. I can't thank them enough."
The news comes five months after another North father-son option, Nick Blakey, nominated Sydney, where he is an academy member, as his club of choice over the Roos and Brisbane.
North Melbourne list chiefs also have a decision to make on Darren Crocker's son, Joel, who can choose them or enter November's draft as a live selection.
