VERSATILE Richmond defender Dylan Grimes has signed a three-year contract extension, tying him to Punt Road until at least the end of 2018.
After a wretched run with repeated hamstring injuries and a foot issue early in his career, Grimes has put together two strong seasons to establish himself as a key part of the Tigers' defence.
Season review: Richmond
The 24-year-old played 19 games this year, taking his career tally to 63 matches after he was recruited with the second pick in the 2010 pre-season draft.
"Dylan has become a very important member of our team, and we’re excited to see him sign on for a further three years," general manager of football Dan Richardson said.
"Not only has he proven himself as a player, but he is a leader on and off the field who has the utmost respect from the coaches and his team-mates.
"He has worked incredibly hard to overcome some serious injuries in his first few years, at just 24 years of age, his best footy is ahead of him."
