BRISBANE midfielder Jarrod Berry will undergo knee surgery on Wednesday and be out for up to eight weeks.
The 21-year-old pulled up sore after the round nine win over Adelaide and was left out of the Lions team that lost to Fremantle by a point on Sunday.
The surgery will remove a Baker's cyst from his right knee and sideline him for 6-8 weeks depending on its success.
It's the second time he's had such an injury.
General manager of football David Noble said surgery was the best way forward for Berry.
"With Jarrod having a previous Baker's cyst, we have some information on how his body reacts to these and used that information to help us make an informed decision," Noble said.
"We anticipate that his return would be around six weeks but will have a clearer picture once he has his surgery."
Berry was elevated to the club's leadership group this year and has played nine games, averaging 21 disposals.
