LIST manager Brady Rawlings has departed West Coast, but won't commence in his new role at North Melbourne until after this year's NAB AFL Trade Period and drafts. 

The Eagles have confirmed Rawlings will return to Arden St, where he is set to take over from Cameron Joyce as football manager.

However, the three-time Kangaroos best and fairest won't start until December 1, as West Coast protects its intellectual property.

Rawlings' departure follows highly-regarded assistant coach Sam Mitchell leaving the Eagles' nest to return to Hawthorn after last year's premiership.

His friendship with former teammate Adam Simpson was the major lure for Rawlings to move to Perth when the West Coast coach was appointed at the end of 2013.

Rawlings spent three years as an assistant coach before moving into list management at the end of 2016.

He oversaw some key off-season moves, including a heist from Gold Coast at the end of 2017 as West Coast refreshed an ageing list with Oscar Allen, Liam Ryan and Jack Petruccelle arriving via the draft after the pick-swap.

In a statement the Eagles said Rawlings "has been a highly valued and respected part of our club for the last five-and-a-half years, and we thank him for all of his efforts over this period.

"Whilst we are disappointed that he has decided to accept an opportunity at North Melbourne, we understand his decision and wish him and his family all the very best in the future."
