CARLTON forward Alex Fasolo has announced his retirement, effective immediately.
The experienced campaigner managed just three games for Carlton this season, having crossed from rivals Collingwood as a free agent during last year's NAB AFL Trade Period.
He had previously played 101 games for the Pies.
"I am content with my decision to leave the game having played nine years at the highest level," Fasolo said in a statement on Friday.
"I want to thank Carlton for giving me the opportunity to continue my career for an additional year and also say thank you to Collingwood for giving me my start and the initial chance to live out my dream."

Fasolo was Collingwood's leading goalkicker in 2016 and enjoyed a relatively successful eight-year stint with the Pies, but couldn't make his mark at Carlton.
After playing the first two games of the year, he was dropped to the VFL and made only one more senior appearance for the Blues. He finished the season with just two goals.
Fasolo will make his last outing for the club in the VFL on Sunday.
