FORMER West Coast midfielder Luke Partington's hopes of an AFL lifeline have received a boost after winning the Magarey Medal on Monday night as the best player in the SANFL.

The 22-year-old capped an outstanding debut season for minor premiers Glenelg by polling 26 votes to claim the medal ahead of Adelaide rookie-listed midfielder Patrick Wilson, on 21.

Former Crows and Sydney forward Lewis Johnston (Norwood) finished third on 17 votes.

Partington – the 28th pick in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft - played six games in three seasons with West Coast before being delisted at the end of last year.

He's averaged 29.5 disposals per game for the Tigers and has earned an invitation to the SA Draft Combine on October 12.

Partington said he'd be keen for a second chance on an AFL list.

"It's definitely a goal and I'd love to experience AFL life again, but for me, it's just setting myself up regardless if that happens or not and make sure I'm putting things in place that I keep enjoying playing footy, and working on a career outside of footy as well," Partington said.

"If I could choose getting drafted at 18 or 21, I'd take 21 every day.

"You probably don't appreciate it as much when you're a little bit younger.

Wilson, 24, has been a standout for the Crows in the state league this year and played one senior game this season.

He'll get another chance to push his claims for more opportunities after signing a one-year extension for 2020.

Meanwhile, former Sturt and Carlton midfielder Peter Motley, ex-Port Adelaide, Essendon and Adelaide wingman Greg Anderson and the Double Blues' first premiership captain-coach Bill Mayman were inducted into the South Australian Football Hall of Fame.
