ST KILDA produced two big improvers of 2019 who finished among the best for their positions. Rowan Marshall was the late-round selection in Fantasy Draft who defined a season when he picked up dual-position status, adding ruck.
Jack Billings (MID, $731,000) pumped out a monstrous 170 against Gold Coast following St Kilda's bye. His role on the wing allowed him to average 26 disposals and six marks as he produced career-high numbers. His loss of DPP will see his ownership be a fraction of what it was in 2019.

Not making his Saints debut until the back half of the season, Dan Hannebery (MID, $622,000) showed solid form to average 98.6 in his five matches. A 15 per cent discount on his price could make him a value pick if he can average triple figures like he did in recent times as a Swan.

Lock them in
Sebastian Ross (MID, $700,000) was the talk of many Fantasy coaches last year. Not only for his car-winning kick in the dying stages of round 23 which saw Selby Lee-Steere infamously go back-to-back in Fantasy Classic, but for his career-high average of 107.3. While many expected him to at least maintain this output, he dropped his average by 13 points by the end of 2019. Ross is seen as a value pick based on his average of 106 in games from when Brett Ratten took over from Alan Richardson.
Track their pre-season
Going into his third season, Hunter Clark (DEF, $574,000) possesses the traits of a player ready for a breakout year. While his second-year average of 77.3 was impressive, he returned an average of more than 90 points for the last eight rounds.
Dual-position tempter
Jade Gresham (MID/FWD, $619,000) has gradually improved his Fantasy output over the past three seasons, with a 10-point jump from last year to have him averaging 83.4 for 2019. Gresham may have only scored two tons in his 19 games, but he is a picture of consistency which helped him produce scores of 90 or more in all but three matches from round 10. Don’t sleep on him in Fantasy Draft.
2019’S BIGGEST STORIES We count down the top 50 stories of the year 5-1
Draft sleeper
Although his 2019 numbers didn't scream 'pick me', Jimmy Webster (DEF, $550,000) has been able to string together some great Fantasy form in the past. His most prolific was the first 12 rounds of 2019 where he was a picture of consistency averaging 90. Injury affected his output in the second half of the season. Webster might be low on the draft rankings, but if he can average 79 as he did in 2018, that would place him in the top 30 for defenders. You could possibly grab him late as an on-field player in Draft but at worst, a low-risk bench selection that many coaches may forget about on Draft day.
Bargain basement
Max King (FWD, $170,000) was taken with pick No.4 in the 2018 NAB AFL Draft. An ankle injury in the VFL ended his season as he was on the cusp of senior selection. The key forward kicked 11 goals in his five appearances for Sandringham. King will be close to a round one starter and a definite bench option in the forward line.
Also consider Jack Bytel (MID, $170,000), who missed last season with a back injury. His junior numbers were impressive, averaging 95 for the Calder Cannons.
Forgotten warrior
Having not played since round four, 2018 due to a heart condition, Dylan Roberton (DEF, $327,000) will start the upcoming season with a hefty price discount. If we rewind back to 2017, Roberton averaged more than 90 in a season where he played every game and produced eight Fantasy tons. He had the freedom to play a game style that saw him regularly have midfielder-like disposal counts and boosted his score with multiple marks in the backline. Roberton is participating in full training and is close to a lock as a Fantasy Classic defender.
Buyer beware
Rowan Marshall (RUC, $736,000) was outstanding last season when he grabbed his opportunity to take the mantle as the No.1 ruck for St Kilda. As the highest-averaging Saint of 2019, Marshall was ranked as the fourth-best ruckman in the competition. The addition of Paddy Ryder may affect his numbers if he is to share the ruck role and spend more time in the forward line. While Marshall will remain as the main man at stoppages, he rarely shared duties last year which helped him improve his year-on-year average by almost 30 points per game.
