WHILE the emergence of a number of young stars was a Fantasy highlight at the Power in 2019, Travis Boak’s (MID, $784,000) season was one for the ages, especially considering he was available as a forward. He was as good as anyone in the game for a significant period, especially early in the season where he averaged 127 in the first month following a significant role change from the previous year.

Lock them in
Connor Rozee (FWD, $539,000) had an outstanding debut season, playing predominantly across half-forward while also showing an ability to successfully pinch-hit through the midfield. While second-year blues are always a drop-off concern, I think Rozee is too good for it to be an issue, especially given the fact he has been training with the midfield group.
Track their pre-season
Tom Rockliff (MID, $737,000) was having a solid season until he slowed up in the last three rounds, which brings his price down nicely. The best thing about Rocky is that when he is fully fit, he can still score with the best of them and his season highs back that up. His top three scores of 149, 150 and 166 shows he still knows how to get the snout out.
Dual-position tempter
Dan Houston (DEF/MID, $596,000) is high on my pre-season watch list after an amazing finish to the season where he fully embraced a role change with a move into the midfield. After just one triple figure score in the first 18 rounds he finished the season on fire with scores of 104, 123, 103, 97 and 89. If he remains in the midfield, he is a prime mid-priced option given his defender status.
Draft sleeper
Scott Lycett (RUC, $619,000) is a great option if you miss the rush in the ruck department. With the departure of Paddy Ryder, the big fella should get a good run at it and his late selection could be a stroke of genius given his potential to score well as sole ruck. He showed what he can do at his best in a two-week stretch last season where he scored 130 and 140 while he also finished the season well with nice scores of 90 and 92.
Bargain basement
Miles Bergman (FWD, $244,000) could be in the mix for early games in similar fashion to last year's prized recruits, especially given his versatility. He has the ability to instantly add another level of attack to the Power midfield while also providing some polish with his impressive kicking and a strong overhead game.
Forgotten warrior
Robbie Gray (FWD/MID, $603,000) has been a Fantasy stalwart who has displayed remarkable consistency over the last six years, never dropping below an average of 80. Now although we have given up hope of seeing him play a full season as a midfielder, he is still worth drafting for the odd occasions where he gets a run up the ground. He is the type of guy who can win you Draft match-ups off his own bat.
Buyer beware
As much as I respect Hamish Hartlett (DEF, $567,000) and his ability to score at an elite level for a defender, his durability concerns need to be considered in both formats of the game. In his 11-year career he has played all 22 games on just one occasion and has put together just 16 in the past two seasons combined.
