CARLTON has no concerns over the fitness of gun youngster Sam Walsh, despite the second-year midfielder copping a brutal blow from teammate Tom De Koning at Carlton's pre-season training camp in Mooloolaba on Wednesday.

Walsh left the field with a laceration to the back of his head and a corked calf, having been clattered by young ruckman De Koning in a brave marking contest in humid and wet conditions on the Sunshine Coast.

He was grounded for an extended period after receiving the blow, with Blues medics immediately rushing to the aid of the reigning NAB AFL Rising Star winner.

However, having limped from the field, Walsh soon returned to watch the remainder of the session on the sidelines with a bandage wrapped around his head and ice strapped to his calf.

It was a worrying end to a light session for the Blues, who will stay in Mooloolaba for the remainder of the week before beginning their Marsh Community Series campaign on February 29.

Carlton had the majority of its senior squad take part in all drills on Wednesday, with Charlie Curnow (knee) and Brodie Kemp (knee) the only major long-term injury concerns.

Fellow key forwards Harry McKay and Mitch McGovern didn't take part in the session as they continue on modified programs.

Young midfielders Paddy Dow, David Cuningham and Sam Petrevski-Seton, as well as veteran ruckman Matthew Kreuzer, were also absent from training on Wednesday as the club continues to manage their loads before the 2020 season.
