Round 2 sees the Hawks take on the Cats as they challenge for the beyondblue Cup in a bid to help raise awareness of depression, anxiety and related disorders and to reduce the stigma within the AFL community.

Over a million people in Australia currently live with depression and over two million have an anxiety disorder.
beyondblue CEO Leonie Young  said "The beyondblue Cup is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of depression and anxiety among footy fans, the local community and people watching the game on TV.

"We want people to know effective treatments are available, that it’s OK to talk about it, and the important thing is to get help early."

beyondblue staff and volunteers will be handing out wristbands around the concourse as fans arrive and for the first time in the Cup’s history, Indigenous Hip Hop Projects (IHHP) will be performing on the ground before the game. IHHP are a group of talented break dancers who travel around Australia for beyondblue to promote good mental health and leadership through dance and self-expression.

The group also joins Hawthorn FC on trips to Katherine as part of the AFL Club Partnerships Program.

If you or anyone you know is experiencing depression or anxiety seek help by contacting beyondblue on 1300 224 636 or visit www.beyondblue.org.au.
