BRISBANE will challenge star defender Harris Andrews' one-game ban for striking North Melbourne forward Nick Larkey at the Tribunal on Tuesday night.

Andrews was reported by umpire Andrew Stephens, and although the broadcast vision didn't capture the incident, AFL.com.au revealed the footage on Monday that saw Match Review Officer Michael Christian assess the incident as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact.

The Lions backman appeared to collect Larkey in the throat with his left forearm.

Larkey didn't leave his feet but was on his haunches for a few moments to catch his breath about five minutes into the game, before going back and taking his free kick.

Brisbane faces Hawthorn in Launceston at the University of Tasmania Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions sit second on the back of five-straight victories but with West Coast also having won 12 matches, and Collingwood and Richmond just one game behind, chances for a home qualifying final are hotly contested.

Andrews, 22, is ranked No.1 in the competition for one percenters per game.

Teammate Dayne Zorko, North Melbourne's Jy Simpkin, Giant Jeremy Finlayson and Blue Jack Silvagni all accepted their fines.
