On Sunday the NSW Swifts will be on the verge of hosting their second ANZ Championship Grand Final in their three-year history when they go head-to-head with arch enemy the Adelaide Thunderbirds in semi final one at Acer Arena.

2010 has seen the re-emergence of the NSW Swifts who have, in true ‘rocky-balboa’ style after winning the inaugural premiership in 2008 and then finishing ninth in 2009, re-written the history books by being the first team in ANZ Championship history to navigate the regular season unscathed. In the process they have notched up thirteen consecutive victories, another ANZ Championship record, on their way to the minor premiership.

Acer Arena holds fond memories for the NSW Swifts as it was the scene of their heroic victory in the inaugural Grand Final over the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic in 2008. But come Sunday, the Swifts know that they will face an even tougher test against an aggressive and gutsy Thunderbirds side.

Matches between the Swifts and Thunderbirds are always show-stoppers with many mouth-watering clashes certain to keep fans on the edge of their seats.

It will be ANZ Championship netball at its best as two of the powerhouses go head-to-head for the right to host the Grand Final.

The NSW Swifts want to see you at Acer Arena on Sunday 27 June, dressed in red and cheering loudly as they aim to keep their unbeaten run intact.
