THE AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has assessed the following incidents from the weekend's round of matches.

No Charges Laid

Other Incidents Assessed
The match day report against the Sydney Swans' Leo Barry for striking the Western Bulldogs' Shaun Higgins was assessed. It was the view of the panel that Higgins had handballed the ball as Barry swung his arm towards the player in an attempt to intercept the ball. Barry used an open hand in his action and it was deemed as an attempt to intercept the ball, and not a striking motion. No further action was taken.

The match day report against St Kilda's Justin Koschitzke for engaging in rough conduct against Collingwood's Shane Wakelin was assessed. It was the view of the panel that Koschitzke's action was not considered unreasonable in the circumstances in that his tackle was all in the one motion with Koschitzke holding Wakelin at all times, and was not two separate motions. The player would not have been aware the ball was out of bounds, nor that Wakelin had disposed of the ball during the tackle. No further action was taken.

  • Contact between the Western Bulldogs' Ryan Hargrave and Sydney's Ryan O'Keefe from the second quarter of Friday's game was reviewed. It was the view of the panel that, while the contact was slightly late, the action was seen as a legitimate attempt to spoil and was below the impact required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
  • Contact between the Sydney Swans' Tadhg Kennelly and the Western Bulldogs' Shaun Higgins from the fourth quarter of Friday's game was reviewed. The impact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
  • Contact between the Western Bulldogs' Scott Welsh and the Sydney Swans' Lewis Roberts-Thomson from the fourth quarter of Friday's game was reviewed. The impact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
