HAWTHORN utility Campbell Brown says he will enter the 2010 finals series without distractions despite a year of constant innuendo about a possible move to Gold Coast at season’s end.

Brown, who turns 27 on Saturday, will make a decision on his playing future at the end of the Hawks’ finals series, which he asserts will remain his sole focus.

“It has been brought up ad nauseam all year, but it really hasn’t played on my mind at all,” Brown replied when asked about the Suns’ mooted interest in an interview for hawthornfc.com.au.

“I said a few weeks ago when Hawthorn made an offer that my management and I thought it would be the right decision to put it on hold and wait to make an educated decision at the end of the year.

“That’s about as far as that’s going to go [for now], but in terms of a distraction? Absolutely not.”

The 17th franchise may sign one uncontracted player from each of the 16 existing AFL clubs ahead of its entry into the competition in 2011.

Brown’s name became linked with the Suns after it was reported he was offered up last year as part of the trade that netted former Port Adelaide star Shaun Burgoyne - reports that were denied by the Hawks.

Adelaide centre half-back Nathan Bock was similarly linked to Gold Coast throughout the 2010 season before coach Neil Craig forced his hand with two games remaining in their season. Upon admitting his intentions to join the fledgling club, Bock was told to pack his bags immediately.

“It was interesting ... good luck to him,” Brown said of Bock’s early departure.

“If that’s the way he’s chosen to go I wish him all the best, but in terms of talk around the locker room or anything like that we haven’t even discussed it.”
