THE SHUTDOWN continues, but the work doesn't stop.

Amid the game's suspension due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Melbourne skipper Max Gawn and the club's prized new recruit Adam Tomlinson continued to grind this week.

Currently situated on the Mornington Peninsula, the pair completed a gruelling session in Rye on Tuesday morning in front of the watchful lens of AFL.com.au's gun snapper Michael Willson.

The day started with a 90-minute running session alongside their four-legged friends at RJ Rowley Recreation Reserve, where the pair completed a program designed by the club's high-performance guru Darren Burgess that includes sprints, interval training and ball work.

Gawn then left for a further 30 minutes of strength work in isolation at his home, completing weights and resistance drills to finish another solid day of training as the Dees star prepares for the game's eventual return.
