PROMISING West Australian forward Kate Bartlett is a chance to line up for Greater Western Sydney next year.

The 17-year-old has nominated for the NSW pool of Wednesday's NAB AFL Women's Draft to increase her chances of being selected.

Due to the short nature of the AFLW competition, players must nominate which state they wish to be drafted in. The vast majority choose their home state, making Bartlett's choice unusual.

The key forward is a member of the NAB AFLW Academy and played for West Australia in this year's NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships.

She kicked seven goals in a match against NSW/ACT during the championships and currently plays for Peel Thunderbirds in the WAWFL.

GWS is on the lookout for forwards, after struggling to score in its first AFLW season. The Giants averaged just 22 points a match, the lowest of all eight sides.

The NAB AFL Women's Draft will be held in Melbourne on October 18, with a live stream on AFL.com.au/womens from 12pm.
