WHEN Geelong unfurls its 2011 premiership flag next year, it will do so at the newly-christened Simonds Stadium.

Hot on the heels of winning their third flag from the past five years, the Cats have announced homebuilding company Simonds will replace Skilled as the naming rights sponsor of their home ground.

"The Geelong Cats are proud to be associated with three generations of the Simonds family in this new naming rights partnership of our stadium," Geelong CEO Brian Cook said.

"The Simonds brand has adorned our coach for the last six years and they've have chosen to relinquish that asset and elevate their partnership to include stadium naming rights for the next five years.

"We feel very comfortable naming the ground Simonds Stadium within Kardinia Park, as the Simonds brand is highly regarded nationwide for quality and value for money."

Gary Simonds, director of Simonds Homes, said the move was a natural one for his company.

"We've been a coach sponsor for the past six years and we're proud to have helped the club achieve the success it has," Simonds said.

"So given our passion for the Geelong Football Club and our company's commitment to the area, this was a natural step to take."

The stadium, which has also been known as Kardinia Park, had its named changed to Shell Stadium in 1999. Two years later it became Baytec Stadium for a matter of months before changing again to Skilled Stadium, the name it has carried until this latest sponsorship announcement.

The new name will be in use from November 1, while by 2013 new light towers for night games will be added to teh ground that has been home for the Cats since 1941.

Cook was keen to thank Skilled for its decade-long association with the ground.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Skilled for their naming rights partnership of our ground for the last 10 years," he said.

"Skilled have been a long, loyal supporter of the club and I would like to acknowledge their commitment to the Geelong Cats."
