Prismall injured his knee in Geelong's finals campaign last season and had a full reconstruction, then said he wanted to leave the Cats, whereupon he was snapped up by Essendon for the bargain pick of No.39 in the NAB AFL Draft.
This after being named as an emergency for the Cats' victorious grand final team just a year earlier.
Now, after four games with the Bendigo Bombers in the VFL, he is preparing himself to take on Adelaide this Sunday.
Surprisingly, Prismall, who played 12 games last year and has just 25 overall, said nerves weren't an issue.
"They're not too bad at the moment – I'm sure come Sunday I'll be a little bit nervous, but it's just like another game," he said from the Windy Hill Hall of Fame on Friday.
"It's obviously my first game for the club, so I'm really looking forward to getting out there.
"It's been really smooth sailing all the way through, I've had no real hiccups, so credit to the fitness staff and physios at the footy club – I wouldn't be back this quickly or in this good condition without their help."
Heading for a new club knowing you're going to spend a few months unable to play is hardly ideal, but the 22-year-old said positives had come from it.
"As soon as I got here I was in the rehab group, which was good for me because I got to know the blokes like (Mark) McVeigh, and (Jason) Winderlich was in there, and (Scott) Lucas at times, so from that perspective it was good for me to learn off them, and to learn about the culture and stuff like that.
"It was frustrating – coming to a new club you just want to get out and show your wares, but I looked for the positives in it, and there were plenty there."
Bombers assistant coach Gary O'Donnell said Prismall had already contributed to the club despite not having played a senior game.
"He's a pretty level-headed sort of person and player," O'Donnell said.
"Already he's brought to the footy club a sense of how hard you have to work to play league footy, and that's rubbed off on our players, I think.
"For a young man, he shows quite a good deal of leadership.
"Look, we can't expect too much from him, it takes a little while to get back to the AFL tempo again.
"On the weekend, we just want him to do his best and that'll be enough for us."
