THE BRISBANE Lions have confirmed forward Mitch Clark has requested a trade to allow him to return to his home state of Western Australia.
In a media release, the club revealed Clark made the request to Lions officials on the weekend.
General manager of football operations, Dean Warren, said the club would now work towards securing the greatest possible outcome for the Lions should a trade eventuate over the coming months.
"Mitch informed the club over the weekend of his desire to return to WA and we understand the reasons behind his request," Warren said.
"While we are extremely disappointed to lose an athlete with Mitch's attributes, we will now work towards getting the greatest possible outcome for the Lions, should a trade be able to be achieved."
The Lions also confirmed five players have been delisted following player reviews and interviews.
Senior listed players Matt Austin and Xavier Clarke, as well as rookie listed players Broc McCauley, Bart McCulloch and Donald Barry, have all been informed of the club's decision to delist them.
Warren thanked each player for the contributions they had made to the Lions on and off the field.
The delisted players were able to farewell their teammates at Saturday night's club champion dinner. Departing stars Luke Power and Jamie Charman also said their farewells in what the club described as an emotional event.
