ADELAIDE coach Don Pyke isn't worried about Eddie Betts' lean start to the season and believes the three-time All-Australian is due to kick a big bag of goals.
The electric small forward has failed to kick a goal in the Crows' first two games of the season.
It's the first time the 31-year-old has gone consecutive games without kicking a goal since rounds eight and nine of the 2010 season when he was at Carlton.
Betts has earnt cult hero status at the Crows since joining the club at the end of 2013, booting at least 51 goals in each of his four seasons.
The 279-game veteran has kicked 534 goals in his career and Pyke is confident it's only a matter of time before he gets back among the goalkickers.
"I'm really happy with how he's playing," Pyke said.
"He's not hitting the scoreboard, which, for a guy who's hit the scoreboard as consistently as he has over his career, is probably a little frustrating for him.
"I'm really confident with Eddie that it's a matter of as early as week that he'll hit the scoreboard again, he's not far away."
Betts has played a little bit higher up the ground at times and had 20 disposals in last Thursday night's 36-point win against Richmond.
"I keep reinforcing to him that he's doing a lot of really good things for us as a team," Pyke said.
"He's generating a bit more footy, he had 20 possessions last week, but he's also giving off a few.
"His score-assists and his involvements are really high, and the goals will come."
Pyke has reassured Betts that the rewards will come if he keeps doing the team-first things.
"Having played and understanding what the guys are going through, there's a little element of doubt in every player, it's just natural," he said.
"To put your arm around him and to say, it's OK, Eddie, you're not far away from kicking a bag, it's a nice thing to be able to do.
"He's still playing to a really high standard, so I'm happy with what he's doing."
