With just a few seconds to run on the clock, Swan stood the mark as the Power's Matt Thomas was about to put Port Adelaide out of danger, just outside of the 50 metre arc.
Thomas's kick was not one of his greatest, but alert as ever, Swan smothered the kick, grabbed the loose ball, swirled free, and with one second on the clock shot from inside 50 - goal! It was pure genius.
Swan ended the first quarter with nine disposals, and two goals. Ironically, Thomas's smothered kick was his 11th for the quarter, making him the the top possession winner on the ground.
