Hey Ash. When you get to your 100th game, are you going to do something pretty special if you win? Have a good game if it’s at the Gabba. I hope you do because you deserve it. – William from Carindale, Qld

Ash: Thanks mate, and thanks to everyone who has sent me messages this week, I really appreciate all your support. All going well I’ll be out there on Sunday for the 100th at the Gabba and I’ll be real pleased to get there – it’s been a fair while coming. I won’t be doing anything special but. It will be good to get together with my family to celebrate afterwards. They’re all coming up for it and I haven’t seen some of them for a while. It won’t be a big celebration because we’ve got recovery the next morning and you have to recover the best you can from a game to help you into the following week.

Hi Ash: I am very protective of my Number 9. I have worn it all through juniors and now with my local club. Have you always worn 9 and why did you pick it? – John from Melbourne, Vic

Ash: Mate you don’t always have a choice when you come to an AFL club. I think even Vossy wore number 50-something when he first came to the Bears. I wore No.7 all through my junior days until I got to South Fremantle colts when it was already taken. So I settled for No.6 instead and went alright so I stuck to it. I got to wear it when I played for the WA Under 16s too. Lukey Power obviously had 6 when I came to the club and Molly Molloy was in 7, so I went for 9 – the good old upside down 6!

G’day Ash. Just wondering how well you think Lachie Henderson is going this year. He looks like a pretty good player. I’m impressed by him coming from a little country town into the big spotlight. Also, do you think we can get in the top eight this year? – Emily from Reservoir, Vic

Ash: Hi Emily. Lachie is pretty new to the game at this level but he settled in to the pace of senior footy really quickly. He was really good when he went back to the twos last weekend. He doesn’t look at of place at all in the seniors. He doesn’t look at all vulnerable when he’s out there and looked very good down back at Port. And yes, course we can make the eight. We’ve had a tough draw, but it we win on Sunday we can level our win-loss record, which keeps you right on track.

Hey Ash. What is the strangest thing a Lions player has ever done off the football field? – Connor from Shepparton, Vic

Ash: There’s been a few strange things on footy trips and Mad Mondays but I might leave that up to your imagination.

Hi Ash. Just wondering how a player gets picked to be a part of the leadership group and what is involved in this position? – Chris from Kedron, Qld

Ash: That’s all up to Leigh and the coaching staff. It will be someone who has the respect of the group and the coaches, someone who carries themself well on and off the field.
