After last weekend’s controversial game against North Melbourne things at Whitten Oval have been far from quiet.

The Bulldogs were too strong for North Melbourne last week and took home the win by 70 points.  The final scores were Western Bulldogs 20.7 (127), North Melbourne 7.15 (57).

Barry Hall hit the headlines after the clash for his reaction to Scott Thompson’s persistent attempts to aggravate him throughout the match. Bulldogs supporters have seen Hall get niggled week in week out and it was good to see him control himself and avoid suspension.

Adam Cooney and Brian Lake were among the best for the Dogs.  Lake was unstoppable and even managed to break the current record for the highest Dream Team (Fantasy Football League) score with 192 points.

Earlier in the week on the back of the impressive win star midfielder and reigning Charles Sutton Medallist, Matthew Boyd commented that he believes the team is now improving in form each week and despite acknowledging there is always room for improvement Boyd said of last weekend’s clash “we just started to play more the way that we played last year and in the NAB Cup, with that quick movement of the ball. We’re just getting better each week, I think.”

This week the team prepare to take on Essendon on Friday night at Etihad. The game comes ahead of Saturday’s inaugural Hall of Fame dinner, which will take place at Crown Palladium. The evening is set to be one of the biggest and best events in Club history and will celebrate the achievements of some of the Club’s biggest characters.

To commemorate the occasion the players will be wearing a Hall of Fame Guernsey as they take on Essendon. The Guernsey recognises our history as the Footscray Football Club through the heritage logo while embracing our current jumper design. The jumpers are available for purchase exclusively at Bulldogs Central or online through Bulldogs Direct along with a range of limited edition Hall of Fame merchandise.

Check out the official Western Bulldogs facebook page to see photos of musician and Bulldog fan Mark Seymour (formerly of Hunters & Collectors) who will be performing at the event, alongside Rob Murphy and Daniel Giansiracusa during a recent Hall of Fame photo shoot.

The last time we met Essendon was in Round 16 2009 at Etihad Stadium and the Dogs proved too strong securing the win with a convincing margin. Let’s hope after a big week off the field the team can continue recent winning form and last year’s tradition and down the Bombers.

Congratulations to Dylan Addison and Josh Hill who are this week scheduled to reach 50 game milestones.
