The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) is the peak Australian Rules Football body in Western Australia. It is the caretaker of football throughout the State and responsible for the overall development of the game.
The WAFC is a not for profit organisation that plays an important role in funding the ongoing development of football in all communities. This ensures that football is the best resourced sporting code in the State and can have the most active role in building better communities through various development programs.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a professional Commercial Manager to manage and coordinate all commercial activities across the WAFC to deliver responsible business outcomes. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering revenue growth targets by maximising returns from all revenue-stream activities.
- Seeking new commercial opportunities, analysing all new business prospects and implementing those which align with the strategic commercial direction of the WAFC.
- Managing all sponsorship properties and relationships, such that contractual obligations are met and stakeholder expectations are exceeded.
- Managing the delivery of all marketing and promotional activities for the WAFC, across all WA football initiatives and programs.
- Overseeing central procurement of supply items.
- Ensuring all WAFC brand guidelines are upheld.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

- Tertiary qualification in marketing, business, sports management or other related discipline; completion of relevant post-grad. level study will be highly regarded.
- Min. 5 years’ experience in a Senior Commercial or Business Development Management role, preferably across sport, entertainment or events management.
- The ability to proactively establish and maintain positive commercial relationships with key external stakeholders including sponsors, suppliers and other industry bodies.
- Developed commercial acumen including sound financial management skills and previous experience in developing and executing commercial strategy.
- The ability to manage a dedicated team of professionals to consistently deliver against expectations, while maintaining a positive, collaborative team environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
The successful incumbent will be expected to be flexible in their availability, with the requirement to attend to matters outside of ‘normal’ working hours. An understanding of the mechanics and structure of the WA football industry is considered advantageous.
