The Swans host Port Adelaide at the SCG this Sunday before travelling to Canberra's Manuka Oval to take on the Western Bulldogs in round 10.
With a home victory against West Coast already tucked away, Goodes said three successive wins would be a major boost for the Swans, who have alternated wins and losses to date.
"We're 4-4 and we're a game from third spot and a game from third-bottom, so the reality is we're amongst the middle of it," he said on Tuesday.
"This time of the year is the most important; the next two games are the most important for our season.
"We're lucky they're in NSW so if we really set our minds to it and play well … we can really set up our season and get some momentum going."
With former Power skipper Warren Tredrea enjoying something of a revival with 27 goals in the past six games and Daniel Motlop always dangerous, Goodes said keeping Port Adelaide's forward line under wraps would be the Swans' primary focus.
"Daniel and those other players up there are going to kick goals; it's just a matter of making sure that when they're having shots on the goal, they're out on the boundary so we give our defenders the best opportunity to defend," he said.
Goodes' own form has mirrored that of his team this season as the Swans' co-captain has struggled for consistency.
However, his efforts in the Swans' heavy loss to Geelong and last weekend's thrilling win against West Coast have given the dynamic midfielder cause to smile.
Goodes' three goals and 26 possessions were crucial in the five-point win against the Eagles and he admitted to some relief at his improved recent form.
"Against Geelong, I didn't use the ball all that well and then this week, it was a very different game for me where I really used the football a lot better and really serviced the forwards a lot better as well," he said.
"It's just great to be able to get a kick and kick a couple of goals as well."
