Over 40,000 witnessed Collingwood's heartbreaking four-point loss to Adelaide at the MCG.

With scores level at the final change, the Magpies managed to kick only one goal in the fourth quarter.

“You go in your shell a little bit and (we) then made too many mistakes,” midfielder Shane O’Bree said of his side’s fourth quarter performance.

“The side that we had out there was pretty strong, full of leaders and we let ourselves down today.

“You can take a lot of positives out of it, work on it and hopefully have a win next week.”

Entering his 12th AFL season, O’Bree was one of the Magpies' best finishing the day with 28 possessions and eight tackles.

“I am like a lot of blokes.  I have had a good preseason which always puts you in good stead for a reasonable year.

“You have to take confidence from what you have done during the preseason, you have the miles in your legs, just keep working bloody hard, and it will turn.”

Collingwood will look to record its first win of the season against Melbourne at the MCG next Saturday.

“They will be out to play well because of the year they had last year and they will be the underdogs against us.

“It’s something we have to come to grips with and win against those sorts of teams.”
