Even the greatest pre-season runner of them all, Kane Cornes, says its time for the matches to begin and he gets his wish this Friday when the Power holds its major internal trial from 6.15pm at Alberton Oval.
The game, which will pit the Power squad against itself for more than an hour, is part of the club’s Family Day which is always a great night and not just because it represents the first game of footy for 2007.
Kane Cornes told Channel 10 on Monday: “We’ve got a lot of exciting talent down at the club at the moment and they’re really looking forward to having their first hit out.”
Competition for spots is very hot this year among the young squad, so the internal trial is set to be fiercely contested as the younger players look to impress the coaches in a competitive hit out.
Talk amongst the players suggests that this has been one of the hardest pre-seasons that they’ve done so fans will be able to see the benefits of the work that’s been done during the summer.
“(The players have) done a heap of running in the pre-season,” Cornes said, “but there’s nothing like getting that game fitness going so this is a great opportunity for players to start getting that match fitness ready.”
The Family Day will also feature appearances by the Power Funk Squad, Thunda Power, Kids 4 Life, the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Adelaide United.
Power players will be presented with their 2007 guernseys and there’s plenty of chances for autographs and photos.
Entry is by gold coin donation and free to Platinum Members.
So head to Alberton and let the team know you’re right behind them for the 2007 season.
Gates open and activities begin from 4.30pm. The game starts at 6.15pm. The new player guernseys are presented at 8.40pm and the player signing session is from 8.50pm.
