COLLINGWOOD father-son draftee Callum Brown will make his debut against Melbourne in the Queen's Birthday clash on Monday.

Magpies coach Nathan Buckley surprised the 19-year-old when he told him the news in front of his teammates ahead of training on Thursday.

"He's over the moon," Buckley said.

The 19-year-old is the son of former Magpies skipper and 1990 premiership player Gavin Brown, who made his debut 30 years ago in March 1987.

Gavin was a teammate of Buckley's for seven seasons, winning three best and fairests and earning a reputation as one of the game's most courageous footballers in his 254-game career.

Buckley said Callum would have told his parents, Kerry and Gavin, who now coaches at North Melbourne, of the news.

"It's every young man's dream to go and play his first game of AFL footy," Buckley said.

"There is a bit of romanticism with his old man that will clearly be reflected on and it's just great to see a Brown in the first 22 for Collingwood again."

Alex Fasolo has put up his hand for selection after missing last week's win over Fremantle due to depression.

Buckley said he spoke to Fasolo on Thursday and the 24-year-old was keen to return to AFL football.

"There is obviously going to be a fair bit going on for him in these early stages and the re-introduction back into playing was a step he was going to have to take at some point and he'll hit the field and have the support of his 21 mates and be able to narrow his focus back into playing footy," Buckley said.

The Magpies have been forced to make at least three changes after Sunday's win with Daniel Wells, Jamie Elliott and Tyson Goldsack all unavailable due to injuries suffered against Fremantle.

Defender Tom Langdon is a chance to return for his first senior game in more than 12 months, while James Aish is available for selection having recovered from a fractured cheekbone.
