HIGH DEMAND for seats on the opening day of MCG ticket sales has caused more frustrations for AFL fans.
After MCC ticket provider Ticketek was forced to abandon last Friday's scheduled on-sale date, the company waived service fees for today's sales launch.
Tickets for AFL Members went on sale at 9am AEDT, and fans on social media reported lengthy wait times to make their purchase.
League 'anger' over ticketing chaos
"Heavy demand has seen sales surpass 2015 on-sale," an AFL spokesperson tweeted.
"Ticketek is processing and we thank fans for their patience as sales proceed."
A Ticketek statement said the website never crashed, but rather some customers were sent to a queuing page due to the high demand.
"We are aware that a small number of customers received an error message when they combined an AFL ticket with purchase of another event," the spokesperson said.
"This was identified and rectified within 15 minutes of the onsale."
Ticket sales for the general public went on sale at 12pm AEDT.
Tickets are available for rounds one to six.
The Ticket service and handling fee has been waived until 11.59pm AEDT Friday.
