BRAD Scott has dispelled fears he would be unfit to coach North Melbourne against West Coast this Friday night at Patersons Stadium, boarding a flight for Perth on Thursday morning.

There was speculation Scott could miss Friday night's game after he missed North's main training session on Tuesday with a virus, and then did not join his team on its scheduled flight to Perth on Wednesday evening.

But Scott confirmed on Thursday morning he was over the virus that left him "violently ill" for 24 hours and would coach against the Eagles.

"I just can't be around the players when [I'm] sick, they're the most important people," Scott said at Melbourne Airport before boarding his flight.

"We're just taking all precautions, but I'm fine, ready to go and ready for a good game."

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley was unable to coach his side against the Kangaroos in Hobart after being hospitalised with a virus.
